China' s Film: Narration Economy and Significance Creation(Department of Film Studies, Beijing Film Academy, Beijing 100088, China )Abstract: Narration economy attaches importance to market benefit, and takes the full promotion of the box office as the target. But, at the same time, the film is supposed to accommodate the public aesthetics and take the responsibility of cultural construction. Since the inception of the new century, as the first breakthrough of narration economy, the system reform of the film has taken a decisive step of replacing the old with the new. As another evident achievement for quest for narration economy, China' s blockbusters of mainstream are successfully released, which go further to turn a series of production, causing the concern and comment of the wide audience. The third turningpoint witnesses the comingout of the new generation of the director group, which brings about the transformation and renovation of significance creation. Creative plan and screen writing, as a source of filmindustry chains, are primary links of producing films. Although, at the present time, China' s operation of creative films is short of filmizing the ready literary writing, there appears the production of independent creation and expressing significance. Since the beginning of 1990s, the plan consciousness and productive practice of the genre film is evidently displayed in China' s film. But, at the same time, in China' s production of the genre film, there are such problems as genre orientations and genre characteristics being unclear and standingout, and the categories of China' s genre films being too small. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen the completeness and diversity of the genre film disposition. For China' s genre film, not only is emphasis put on the commercial benefit, but also importance is attached to significance creation. Only by way of the comprehensive benefit of narration economy and national cultural construction, is it helpful for the film to avail the wide audience and enhance the cultural character.

Hua Mulan: the Evolution and Dissemination of a Chinese Cultural Sign——From the Mulan Drama to the Mulan
    TUN Bao-He
Journal of Shanghai University (Social Science Edition)    2011, 18 (1): 16-26.
    Abstract1553)            Save

During a period of more than one thousand years, the story of Mulan' s joining the army for replacing her father has been undergoing a series of manifestations, such as folksongs, longandshort poems, novels, theatres, films, television series and compute games. And its content has also been developing, being augmented from initial hundreds of words to more than one million words. While the image of Mulan constantly changes and renovates, the related characters and story details continue to multiply. All this constitutes such an enormous story pedigree that the collective memory of nation and the essence of traditional culture are composed. For the restatement of the Mulan story, different ages embody different times characteristics, value concepts and cultural mentality. And to contemporaries, the most attractive is the spirit value of filial morality, heroic deeds and female identity. The theme of the Mulan story develops from typical filialmorality through typical faithfulness to one' s country and parents to typical love for one's father and selfsuccess. And the legend of the Mulan story shapes the main narrative pattern of the Chinese heroine story. Although, under the big background of China' s modern enlightenment and women's liberation, the female independence consciousness of the Mulan story is developed largely, the female identity and affirmation are neglected intentionally. By disclosing the development of the Mulan story, and by analyzing its contained spirit value and the different manifestations of different time contexts and cultural background, also by interpreting the values in many works about Hua Mulan, a process of development for a Chinese cultural sign and its realization of spirit value can be opened out.

Journal of Shanghai University (Social Science Edition)    2011, 18 (1): 27-35.
    Abstract1340)            Save

Although the "17 years" film (1949—1966) draws nourishment from the multifarious cultures of both China and foreign countries, thus producing a phenomena that can be said to comprise multiple resources, the "dramatic film", as a concept of the film, gives a deep, extensive influence on the creation of the film in new China, which can not compare with other concepts of the film. The tradition of the "dramatic film" can be described as the follows: the story narrative is primary, and a great importance is attached to the contradictory confliction, to the educational function of the film, and to the auxiliary role of the image, all of which can be found a specific parallelism in the "17 years" film. While the "17 years" film has a little change in the aspect of detailed expressions, the main body comes down in one continuous line with the tradition of the "dramatic film".

A Superb, Colorful World of Beauty——On Aesthetic Modalities
    CHEN Ba-Hai
Journal of Shanghai University (Social Science Edition)    2011, 18 (1): 36-55.
    Abstract1233)            Save

The world of beauty is superb and colorful, just because beauty has numerous modalities. And beauty, as the "revelation of original life state", not only possesses different life connotation for its life object, but also has different meaning for its mode of revelation Thus, based on the common life nature, aesthetic modalities are constituted, which embody various value functions of the beauty world and its entire value system. This essay, from the start of the principle of life philosophy, gives an investigation and analysis of such aesthetic categories as beauty, ugliness, sublime, daintiness, tragedy, comedy, novelty, eeriness, absurdness, amusement, revel and dizziness, and probe into the mode of their mutual dependence and transformation. For aesthetic modalities, not only exists the logic relation, but also appears the change of rise and fall in the process of historical development. Therefore, its value system continues to be regulated and renovated. Since different nation has different life circumstance and cultural tradition, the constituted aesthetic modality possesses considerable discrepancy. The argument here is limited in an interpretation of some idiomatic categories in the Western aesthetics, and, at the same time, makes some contrast with the tradition of China itself.

A CounterCriticism of the Recent Criticism about Practical Ontology

(Department of Chinese Language and Literature, Fudan University, Shanghai 200433, China)Abstract: The argument about "practical ontology" as being the patchwork of Marx' s view of practice and Heidegger'  ontology derives from a onesided understanding of "ontology" and a separation of the integrity of Marxist ideology. In view of Marx, "matter" and "nature" are merely "primary" in the sense of "origin" rather than "ontology." From the Economic and Philosophical Manuscripts of 1844 to his later critiques of political economy, Marx constantly inquiries into the question of "existence" (on, being, sein). His true revolutionary transcendence, beyond all classical philosophies and metaphysics including old materialism, is his ontological thinking closely combined with the "view of practice," rather than the socalled "substantial ontology."

A Study of the Evaluation of the City' s Comprehensive Competitiveness in the Yangtze River Delta
    XU Li-Yang, GUO Hong-Jing
Journal of Shanghai University (Social Science Edition)    2011, 18 (1): 79-90.
    Abstract1273)            Save

For the evaluating index system of the city' s comprehensive competitiveness in the Yangtze River delta, what we should consider is not only the city' s competitiveness but also the city's ability to accumulation and diffusion in the city group, that is to say, considering comprehensively the internal and external factors of influencing the city' s comprehensive competitiveness. The internal factors include comprehensive competitiveness, infrastructure levels and social harmony. And the external factors include the sharing degree of intercity infrastructure and the division of work and cooperation between cities. This essay, by way of factor analysis, makes an evaluation of the comprehensive competitiveness of the 25 cities in the Yangtze River delta. The conclusion is as follows: while the city' s comprehensive competitiveness of such 9 cities as Shanghai, Suzhou, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Wuxi, Ningbo, Changzhou, Shaoxing and Jiaxing is above the average level in the Yangtze River delta, the city' s comprehensive competitiveness of other cities is below the average level in the Yangtze River delta. By a cluster analysis, these 25 cities can be divided into five categories. While the cities of the same category are close to each other in development, there is a distinct difference in development between the cities of the different category. And there is also a very close relationship between intercity collaboration and the city's comprehensive competitiveness. On the one hand, viewing from the evaluation of the city' s competitiveness, the degree of collaboration and the level of collaboration between different cities plays an important part in the city's comprehensive competitiveness; and, on the other hand, viewing from the strategy of different cities to enhance comprehensive competitiveness, although the strategy itself vary due to differences in their conditions, its internal demand for collaboration is common. Therefore, any city' s enhancement in the comprehensive competitiveness is inseparable from the full collaboration of its related cities.

An Empirical Analysis of the Double Spillover Effect of China' s Manufacturing and Service Trade
    YAN Feng
Journal of Shanghai University (Social Science Edition)    2011, 18 (1): 91-101.
    Abstract1221)            Save

Since the inception of 1980s, the global industrial structure has taken on a general tendency to transforming from the "manufacturing economy" to the "servicing economy". During the process of the continuous adjustment and upgrade of the industrial structure, the interaction between manufacturing and servicing becomes more and more evident. This essay has an empirical analysis of the relationship between China' s manufacturing and servicing since the reform and opendoor. The result of study on the basis of VAR model indicates that there is a longterm dynamic relationship between manufacturing and servicing but the mutual influence coefficient is smaller, which accounts for an unformed positive interaction of the both. The fact that the coefficient summation of the influence of manufacturing on servicing is less than the coefficient summation of the influence of servicing on manufacturing shows that China' s degree of specialized labor division is not high. On the one hand, a great deal of requirement of middle service has not been divorced from industrial chains; and on the other hand, the degree of dependency of manufacturing on servicing is lower. At the same tome, it is limited for the effect of supporting and driving. All this not only restrains the development of servicing but also holdbacks the enhancement of the value realization and competition. The situation becomes so, mainly because a harmonious mechanism between industries has not established. And by analysis of the computation model and the inputoutput, the author points out that there is a twoway spillover effect between China' s manufacturing and servicing, which is interactive. It is a great importance for China' s economic growth and structural transformation to promote the development of their corresponding interaction. In the coming years, China should go further to guide the enterprise and the whole society in understanding the relationship between manufacturing and servicing, greatly improving the ability to independent innovation, enhancing the industrial level and upgrade, pushing forward the innovation of system. mechanism and policy, deepening each reform related to servicing economy, working out the strategic programming and the supporting measure of industrial integrated development, establishing the positive interactive mechanism of manufacturing and servicing, constructing the environment of industrial integrated development, strengthening the connection and centralized development of manufacturing and servicing, setting up the trade credit, honest service system and public service platform that is propitious to the interactive development, carrying forward the integration of industrial chains, so as to acquire, on the basis of this, the greater space and biggest efficiency of industrial development.

For a long period of time, as far as the average annual runoff of the river is concerned, Tibet' s water resources are most abundant in China. It is the area where China' s major strategic storage of water resources or China' s most important potential of water resources will produce. During the 21st century, under the background of the global water crisis and China' s big shortage of fresh water resources, a great importance will be attached to water resources as national or international strategies. The reasonable usage and reproducible maintaining of water resources in Tibet will influence the durable development, the friendly relations, the regional corporation, the ecological security and the national defense between China and its neighboring countries. The water resources thus become one of the principal factors of restricting Tibet's economical development. Transforming the potential advantage of water resources in Tibet into the actual advantage is the best support to its economical development, also to China' s economical development. This project will be most important in strategy.

The New, Effective Realization Form of China' s Rural Collective Economy——A Case of Shaanxi Province
    XUE Ji-Liang, LI Lu-Tang
Journal of Shanghai University (Social Science Edition)    2011, 18 (1): 115-123.
    Abstract1394)            Save

The rural collective economy with its land ownership being predominant, after the disintegration of the people' s commune, does not produce any carrier as its effective realization form that can replace the people' s commune in the times of the planned economy. Thus a new, effective realization form of rural collective economy seems ready to come out, which is also a necessity for China to change the current situation where the centre government sets up policies directly for peasants, and where there is a disagreement between the macroscopic target of the government' s assisting agriculture by public finance and the microscopic target of the peasant' s economic behaviors. This essay, taking Shaanxi Province as the study case, gives an interpretation of the new connotation of rural collective economy. It also puts forward such five new effective forms of realization as the peasant' s selfdetermination for land flowing, the operation of the county governmental organization plus the peasant' s household; circulating industrial parks; various economic organizations for the peasant' s professional cooperation and Yangling' s new, high industrial park as an example, and, at the same time, makes a comparison to them. The author holds that, during a period of future time, the diversification of the realization form is the normal situation for rural collective economy. For the development of rural collective economy, the whole agricultural and nonagricultural resources need to be taken full advantage of, so as to create manifold realization forms of rural collective economy such as industrial parks, family farms, agricultural industries and economic cooperation organizations. And, during the process of creating these realization forms, an importance must be attached to the guidance of the government, which is also necessary for building new socialist villages and for developing modern agriculture. As for rural collective land ownership, its shortcoming is not the basic obstacle of realizing rural collective economy. It is necessary to be fully aware that, within the scope of the world, the private property of land is not the unique realization form of land right. Therefore, rural collective economy on the basis of rural collective land ownership can be equally vital.

    Abstract1502)            Save

The social essence of China' s contemporary development of religion is not only the issue of religious ecology, but also the relationship between religious faith and social power, that' s to say, its deep problem being the problem of China' s contemporary power ecology, not being the problem of the interaction between Christianity and folk religion faith. The relationship between the development of China' s contemporary religion and its religious faith, or the contradiction or even conflict between them, in fact, concerns power ecology or social ecology. As far as China' s current trend of social change, it is actually a neglect of commonality and sociality of modern country and modern society to rewield the flag of the "Chinese tribes in the east", or to be exact, to use anxiously the Chinese tradition to construct orthodox faiths. In regard to its essence, than saying to give a space of development to folk faith or folk religion, we would rather say to open a religious relation to return a freedom of the social practice of religion and faith, if we want to settle the contradiction between China' s contemporary existence and development of religious faith. This essay, from the complicated relation of China' s contemporary religious faith, tries to sort out such issues of sociology as power ecology and the faith in the level of the nation.

The Strength of Documents: the Road to Modern Times for China' s Tradition

the Han Dynasty on China' s Tradition of Ancient Documents

Journal of Shanghai University (Social Science Edition)    2011, 18 (2): 1-15.
    Abstract1267)            Save

As one of the important characteristics of China' s ancient development, documents play a crucial part in the whole ancient existence, thus shaping China' s tradition of ancient documents. The highest exhibition is that the combination of specific documents, that is, the Confucian classics, not only turn into the excellent expression of people' s target and norm of behaviors, but also become the ultimate foundation of manifesting reasonable national activities and lawful national powers. The development of the studies of Confucian classic in the Han Dynasty produces an important influence on the formation of this tradition, for instance, giving a unique status to the “six arts” by establishing the doctorial degree of the five classic, and imparting a supreme quality of the ultimate guidance on national politics and lives to the combination of Confucian classics. The tradition of ancient documents, for itself, has ceased to influence the modern lives. The concept of learning in playing a part in national and social lives has already profoundly changed. The everlasting value of China' s classics lies in the manifestation of the achievement of ancient China' s cognition itself by escaping from the formation of original entanglements.

The Construction of the Modern Film Theory

According to the authors of this essay, the theoretical heritage of the neosensualism in films can be divided into two aspects: theory and criticism. The criticism of neosensualism is a sort of "theoretical" review without historical awareness. As a result, for a long period of time, this kind of theory has been (ironically and revengefully) rejected by history. It is more reasonable to approve its theoretical contribution while affirming its weakness. Hence, based on the careful collection of the latest materials concerned, the authors work up all the related theoretical writings of neosensualists' advocators, who are headed by Liu Na' ou and Mu Shiying, synthesizing their opinions on the film theory, and seeking for their correlation with the Western film theory and their own innovation, so as to reevaluate the theoretical value on the viewpoint of film noumenon.

Since the early 1980s when Mr. Zhong Dianfei made his proposition concerning the creation of the Chinese western film, and after a long period of the rapid development in the mid 1980s and the prosperous climax in the end of the 1980s, China has produced a great number of works characteristic of the western culture. These films, full of the western spirit and consciousness, possess a strong favor of the northwestern nationality and regional feature, and, by virtue of their expression and exploration in modern image language, echo the rise of the image esthetics in the new period, thus forming the unique aesthetic style, even, in a certain degree, China' s symbolization of cultural sign and figure. A practical and theoretical consideration of the creation of the Chinese western film has an important value both for the Chinese history of film and for the current film practice. The cultural influence and spiritual variation of the Chinese western film are spread to some film creation in the new century. In the age of globalization, for our investigation of the Chinese western film, it has a great important value and revelation in the construction of China' s film genre and the international dissemination of culture.

The responsory content was mainly displayed as follows: (1) expressing the nostalgia for the Ming Dynasty; (2) uttering the sufferings of compromising honor and the depression of holding an official post under the rule of foreigners; (3) conveying the homesick feeling of southerners working in the northern area; (4) presenting the merrymaking of relieving spiritual depression. It is during the process of freemasonry communications that these turncoat poets grew up a faint group ideology.

In order to promote the transformation to the low carbon economy and demonstrate the international leadership, the United Kingdom, at the end of 2008, led the way to promulgate and implement the first Climate Change Law in the world. The law establishes the medium and long term target of reducing green house gas emissions, not only setting up the climate change committee, but also regulating each fiveyear plan of carbon budget and constructing the domestic emission trade system, thus setting a good example for constituting Climate Change Law in other countries. China also faces such multiple challenges as developing economy, eliminating poverty and reducing green house gas emissions. Especially there are severe conditions in climate change and heavy tasks for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Therefore, it is necessary to have an overall, systematic investigation of the setting background of Climate Change Law, analyzing and abstracting its basic principles and main features, so as to point out the shortage and deficiency in China' s current lawmaking and lawenforcing, such as running short of a basic law regulating specially greenhouse gas emissions and a strong administrative department that can be united to lead the nationwide work of reducing green house gas emissions, some clauses in energy law being too abstract to operate, and the criteria of domestic reducing emissions not having the effect of compulsive norm. Based on drawing experience from Climate Change Law in the United Kingdom, this essay puts forward China' s law politics for dealing with the global climate change, such as establishing China' s Climate Change Law by the National People' s Congress or its Standing Committee, constructing the perfect law system of dealing with climate change in accordance to the principle and spirit of the said law, setting up the ministeriallevel committee of energy and climate change to manage and deploy the whole country' s reducing greenhouse gas emissions by conserving energy, making up the domestic system of emission trade to deal with the severe challenge of the global climate change.

The regulation and system of WTO gives a challenge to the development of China' s lawful rule in administration. For China' s reform for administrative examination and approval, it is not only the objective demand of WTO to the governmental behaviors of its member states but also the inherent request of China' s reform for the lawful rule in administration. To a certain extent, China' s reform for administrative examination and approval has achieved such goals as transforming governmental functions, reducing approval items, simplifying approval procedures and strengthening supervision systems. With the development of the reform, it is necessary to go further to perfect the system of administrational examination and approval: (1) keep on inspecting and adjusting the administrative items of examination and approval to develop properly in breadth and depth; (2) eradicate completely the profited authority of offices to continue the selfrevolution of the government; (3) refine the mechanism of operation to perfect the construction of supporting systems.

Although the development of computer network supplies people with more information and more efficient contacting, an increasing number of online infringement cases bring forward a series of new questions for China' s traditional justice system, in which the civil jurisdiction of network infringement cases is one of the outstanding problems. According to China' s current laws, the lawsuit over infringement action (including generic infringement cases and network infringement cases) only falls within the jurisdiction of infringement location courts or defendant domicile courts. But, in real life, network infringement disputes reflect a unique phenomenon that is different from that of other infringement disputes, that is, the plaintiffs suffering from network infringement being so difficult to determine the domiciles of online infringement defendants and the specific infringement locations that they are in the dilemma of prosecution. This essay holds that it is necessary to sort out, by way of the features of computer network, the related theories both at home and abroad, whether traditional or new, especially America' s theory of the "longarm jurisdiction" . And the people' s court located in the domicile of plaintiffs should become one of the courts falling within jurisdiction of network infringement, which can give the plaintiff a greater right to choose the jurisdiction of the courts so as to solve effectively the problem of the "difficulty to the plaintiff' s prosecution" in judicial practice.

The United States, as a latecomer among the world powers, exerted a great deal of effort in its communications with the domestic and international public in order to secure their understanding, trust, and support. In the realm of world' s fairs alone, it hosted twelve, nearly 30% of the world' s total, and more than any other country in the world. The lessons drawn from the successes and failures amongst these multiple experiences are worthy of consideration by developing countries that are currently emerging peacefully as world powers. This essay chooses a crucial turning point in the rise of a superpower, specifically analyzing America' s 1904 St. Louis World' s Fair in the contemporary view. It proposes that this world exposition met the multifaceted needs of an emerging power by strengthening internal solidarity and tolerance and improving international familiarity and sympathy, building on a foundation of the protection of national interests and the promotion of a modern lifestyle. Its target audience was the domestic and international public who shared the middle class dream, expressed in humane characteristics such as sincerity, humility, friendliness, and tolerance. The substance of the exhibitions emphasized innovations in lifestyle, raising the level of modern refinement, and promoting orderly interaction between humans and society. Despite its flaws, on the whole, the St. Louis exposition survives as a milestone marking a particular stage of history. The experiences of the St. Louis exposition alert us to the fact that we should take a second look at colonialism, that it is best in the long term to maintain a modest profile, and that the cultural goal of the World Expo should be mutual appreciation of different moral and aesthetic values. Humankind is overcoming the limits of cultural chauvinism and cultural relativism and moving toward multiculturalism. In the course of the competition for innovation, reciprocal exchange, and the pursuit of excellence, we should seize the chance to meet the challenge and attain a new kind of multidimensional progress.

Journal of Shanghai University (Social Science Edition)    2011, 18 (3): 1-16.
    Abstract1246)            Save

Nowadays human beings are facing the great challenge of resources and environment. At the same time, in some countries, the contradictions caused by "cheap labor costs" are also touching the bottom line of human dignity. This essay, based on the "multidimensional property rights of human development", and from the property rights of "nature" (environment), "earth" (resources) and "man" (manpower) as well as their coupling, puts forward the following opinions: (1) In the aspect of environment, there is the "deficiency of property rights". A theoretical discussion shows that it is objective to establish a system of environmental property rights. The framework serves as the "three pillars", that is, the system of environmental property rights in definition, transaction and protection, including the integrated coordination between the lines of property rights, techniques, structures and regulations. (2) In the aspects of resources, there is the "deformity of property rights". According to the "multipowers" of the generalized theory of property rights, such five powers should be perfected as peasants' land flow, woodland management and tree transfer, the drilling and mining of mineral resources, the rights of water resources, and the usufructuary right of oceans. (3) The property rights of manpower take human beings as the "essence", which emphasize labor force, management and technology. It is necessary to establish owners' subjective status in economic society and seek for the channels and forms of manpower capital being transformed into enterprise capital so as to construct a systematic structure of golden triangle. (4) The property order of the "natureearthman" has an inner coupling. The author makes some suggestion of how to play a coupling part of the property rights of the "natureearthman" in scientific development, systematic reform and social management.

he Delay and Absence of National Consciousness
——China' s System of Film Dissemination and Its Expansion
of Space before the Founding of the Nanjing KMT Government(School of Arts, Beijing University, Beijing 100871, China)Abstract: Before the founding of the Nanjing KMT Government, or during the time from the introduction of film into China to 1927, the dissemination of China' s film mainly concerned with morals, having basically nothing with nation and state. The delay and absence of national consciousness, combined with unenlightened, oldfashioned value orientation and confused, disorderly official intervention, make China' s film of this period almost placed in extreme anarchy, resulting in a condition where the Chinese film, from the start, falls into the dislocation of target and effect, and also into the abruption of disseminator and audience. And the Chinese film and its audience in the early period of the Republic of China, during the course of the fast growing and gradual thriving of the Chinese film, realizes a kind of unruly freedom and abnormal pleasure, and, of course, tastes a kind of value puzzlement and identity anxiety.

A Brief Comment on the Media Object of the
New Media Animation (Digital 3D Animation)(School of Communications, East China Normal University, Shanghai 200062, China)Abstract: Digital 3D animation was produced in 1990s, and, after that, it quickly became popular all over the world. For such a new animation as this, a lot of new issues are produced in the artistic theory. First, digital media is different from ordinary media. It doesn't have an entity, only being a kind of media parasitic on other media, all of which lose their features and become homogeneity-oriented digital media. Digital media can exist either in a recessive way or in an explicit way. For animation, digital media existing in a recessive way is confused with ordinary animation. But in the aspect of eekangsa, digital media displays itself both in figure and in movement. It combines the advantage of eekangsa with the advantage of hand-drawing animation, creating a new kind of animation. Also it is the expression of digital media different from traditional media that is considered as a new kind of artistic media.

modernism prevails in the period from the mid1960s to the end of the 20th century. For poststructuralism, it is also so. And poststructuralism, as an important wing of postmodernism, plays a significant part in the ideology and history of postmodernism. But postmodernism is not monolithic. It can be split up. Actually there are two kinds of totally different postmodernism. Only by distinguishing between these two different kinds of postmodernism, can we inherit the critical quality of Marxist theory and understand the real problem of postmodernism, walking finally out of postmodernism.

The Naissance of the Youth Culture in Modern China
——Taking the New Youth as the Main Study Case

Journal of Shanghai University (Social Science Edition)    2011, 18 (3): 47-56.
    Abstract1331)            Save

The youth culture, represented by the May 4th youth, is produced on the basis of the naissance of the youth stratum in modern China. From the view of the content, the New Youth has a "youthful" or "vigorous" soul. During the time of the May 4th Movement, a large number of the critical essays, taking the "youth" as the theme, makes up of the unique "youthful discussion". There are mainly two reasons for Chen Duxiu' s naming his magazine the New Youth: firstly, youth as a social role possesses a powerful social function, being easy to become the strength of social innovation; secondly, youth in itself compromises a likelihood of value judgment that takes time as measure. Therefore, on the one hand, youth as the object being enlightened has a great possibility of innovation, and, on the other hand, since its moral advantage, in a struggle against the old age, old empire, old system, old culture and old moral, it is easy to obtain acceptance. The modern youth' s birth of this social role is the outcome of such bilateral development. While social role expectation or social norm strength is produced, there exists youth' s independent consciousness or role selfdesigning. That is to say, youth is determined not only by social role expectation but also by the subject behavior of the student as the role actor and its interaction with social role expectation. As far as modern China is concerned, the production of youth as a social role is closely related to the New Youth. And the May 4th youth, by virtue of reading the New Youth, produces selfconsciousness. The development of this selfconsciousness results in youth worship.

China' s environmental aesthetics initiated in the nineties of the 20 century. Up to the beginning of the new century, it took shape, presenting a good condition of development. In the past decade, the research of the Chinese scholar for the environmental aesthetics has achieved a remarkable result. This is mainly, taken as a whole, reflected in the three aspects: firstly, the theoretical study of the environmental aesthetics establishes a theoretical foundation for the subject itself and the harmonious relationship between human beings and natural environments; secondly, while the practical study of the environmental aesthetics, by virtue of its criticism, promotes the theoretical development of the environmental aesthetics, it makes the theory of the environmental aesthetics utilized in the practice; thirdly, the study of the relationship between the environmental aesthetics and other subjects gives to the environmental aesthetics a theoretical startingpoint, thus making it producing vitality. The three aspects mentioned above give a summary of the research for the environmental aesthetics in the past decade, from which, also we can go further to have an analysis and forecast of the future study of the environmental aesthetics.

An Interpretation of the Voicing Predicament in LocalColor Literature

Journal of Shanghai University (Social Science Edition)    2011, 18 (3): 67-80.
    Abstract1675)            Save

For nearly 100 years, localcolor literature carries and records the great changes of native China, supporting the blood and voice of agrestic words. But up to the era of the knowledgebased economy, professionalism and apatheticesthetics bring about the estrangement between native writers and native land and the absence of speaking for enthusiasm. The work such as Women' s Chattering, which speaks for the lowerclass people in the country, highlights the absurdness of endorsement under the operation of technological words. In splitting China, rural intellectuals and the new class, who speak for the lowerclass in the country, are difficult to produce. The novels of Li Shasha as a representative worker born in 1980s, stand for the dilemma between the new class' s seeking for the discourse power of endorsement and the acquirement of cultural capital, which discloses the writing subject. And, under the admonishment of new ideology, they get deeply into the predicament of selfcolonialism and suffocate localcolor literature, even the voicing of entire China.

    Abstract1542)            Save

The creation of the Lei text has something to do with the Yi rule in ancient times. Lei and Yi originally mean the respectful treatments for dignitaries. Afterward, the scope of treatment is enlarged so that general officials can be granted. With this process of evolution, the Lei text is produced, basically characteristic of "recording words and deeds", "writing positive biographies" and "paying a tribute to one' s life". For the Lei text in the Western Han Dynasty, only Yang Xiong' s A Lei for Queen Yuan is handed down from generation to generation. Zhang Heng, living in the Eastern Han Dynasty, is considered as the great master for the Lei text of that time. And in the era of the Three Kingdoms, Cao Zhi is praised as the best expert for the Lei text. Cao Zhi not only writes more Lei texts, but also no longer pays attention to "praising". Instead, he prefers "mourning", thus creating a variant. Up to the times of the Two Jins dynasties, the best Lei text writer is acknowledged as Pan Yue, whose writing is full of emotions and colors. Lu Ji, Lu Yun and Zhang Hua are also well known as experts. After the hard work of the persons mentionedabove, the Lei text becomes an important part of lyric literature.

Journal of Shanghai University (Social Science Edition)    2011, 18 (3): 94-101.
    Abstract1576)            Save

Both Xiao Tong and Liu Zhiji try to distinguish between literature and History, although they live a slightly different age. Xiao tong' s disposal of the devision is simple. In Selected Works edited chiefly by him, he expels all historical works, just mentioning them in Preface. But Liu Zhiji is different. While he insists on the division of literature and history in dealing with numerous relevant works, he accepts the fact that many works are truly hard to distinguish between. Therefore he classifies the socalled "storybooks emphasizing record", and gives a different evaluation according to the content, thus making these works obtain the legitimacy of a certain existence. Evidently it is sensible for Liu Zhiji, facing the situation of hardness to distinguish between literature and history, to insist on a clear distinction and, at the same time, not to go to extremes.

    Abstract1213)            Save

In 2006, China completed the transformation from a lowincome nation to a middleincome nation, which brought about a great change in its retail markets. The "rich people" principle established by the "national twelfth fiveyear plan" will go further to promote the speed of this change. For China' s retail markets in keeping a speech privilege of terminal position in industrychain, it is the only choice to master mutative market elements and regulate purposefully new business strategies. This essay makes a comparative analysis of the relevant statistical data, and draws a conclusion. After entering into the rank of middleincome countries, China' s retail trade has a greater growth in such aspects as sales, employment and grossprofits. But, compared with the developed countries, this growingup looks too low. There are multiple reasons for this lowness, one of which is the imbalance of regional development and income structure. This essay, from such five aspects as mature logos, diversified purchase payment, perfect business attitudes, the main development means, and the rational purchase degree, gives an analysis of the changes of China' s retail market gradually entering into the era of logos and maturity. The author thinks that, in the near future, it is significant for China' s retail market to transform its growing method from the former "enclosure" to the coming "harmony" so as to regulate and establish the enterprise' s development strategies and business targets.

Quasifalse news is different from false news. The latter comes completely from nothing. But the verisimilitude of quasifalse news conceals various distortions that do not correspond to the fact, thus producing a great evil influence on audience. The false news invented completely is easy to be seen through. Therefore once being disclosed, it is not believable. But quasifalse news, just like covert virus attaching to news organism, is not easy to be conscious of, and endangers our journalism imperceptibly. There are many showing ways for quasifalse news: noneffective information, weak news source, suspicious numbers, deep hurt in contrast to the strong principle, and stiff routines. All these have a profound, complex source of production. For quasifalse news, it is necessary to have a deeper criticism in academics and a larger, more thorough cleaningup in practice.

    John Dewey and Walter Lippmann:
A Subversion of the Theory of Press Freedom(School of FilmTelevision Arts and Technologies, Shanghai University, Shanghai 200072, China)Abstract: The theory of press freedom is a guidance theory of mass media, which held a leading position in western countries from the midseventeenth century to the midtwentieth century. Absorbing the theoretical essence of several western ideologists in the seventeenth century, it prepared the public for developing a free, independent system of mass media under the condition of capitalism. But, as times went, things were different. Up to the fifties of the 20th century, the monopoly reality of the western mass media and the overflowing of emotional news reports made untimed the theory of press freedom. Therefore, it was inevitably replaced by the theory of social responsibility initiated by Commission on Freedom of the Press in 1947. During that time, John Dewey, an American philosopher of pragmatism, and Walter Lippmann, an American theoretician of journalism and communication, have a powerful, theoretical criticism of the premise and contents of the theory of press freedom, which served as a subversion of the predominant western theory of mass media and made good bedding for the replacement of the theory of press freedom with the theory of social responsibility.

The Transformation of Government in the
Times of Public Products in Shortage(China Institute for Reform and Development, Haikou, 570208, China)Abstract: China is stepping into the times of public products in shortage, which is the special background, not only of the current transformation of the economic growth pattern, but also of the transformation of government. For the study of the governmental transformation in the new era, it is necessary to start from China' s basic conditions and follow the objective trend of the transformation of the economic growth pattern. After China' s stepping into the times of public products in shortage, there appear following phenomena: on the one hand, economy is developing rapidly; and on the other hand, public products in shortage are becoming a life problem faced by numerous members in the society. That is the deepseated reason why the economic growth patter is required for transformation. Judging from the economic history in the world, western developed countries, by their mediumterm of industrialization, would have a contradiction between overcapacity and consume deficiency. Facts show that, by virtue of the augment of public products such as education, medicalcare and socialsecurity, an expectation for consume can be improved and an endogenous impetus for economic growth can be fostered. In the past time of more than 30 years, by way of market reformation, China has greatly raised its efficiency in the aspects of private resources deployment and private products supply. But for supplying with public resources and public products, it has not formed an effective system or mechanism. Stepping into the new period, it requires the whole optimization of public resources deployment so as to improve the transformation of government that takes its public service as the center.

While importance must be attached to the aspect of the general history of the Chinese film, other aspects such as age histories, special histories, regional histories and oral histories should be laid stress on, thus being able to make the studies of the Chinese film history more colorful and comprehensive. What‘ s more, a variety of influences on the development of the Chinese film, including ones of overseas film trends or schools and ones of traditional Chinese cultures, should be gone further to make an approach.

    Abstract1281)            Save

Since the foundation of the new China, the Chinese film, according to the requirement of the ideology of the country, has cooperated with the mainstream politics. On the one hand, it uses revolutionary speeches to make an overall requisition and transformation of traditional story forms, especially the images of the bottom women, so s to construct the personal attachment to the class or the personal obedience to the political party; and on the other hand, it seeks to finish the substituting of modern revolutionary speeches for traditional ideologies. The film such as this, although making a concentrated creation of women’s characters, cannot get away from the old rut of the patriarchal discourse, because the proletarian speech of revolution possesses an inherent rejection of women’s consciousness. The socalled women take on a function of construction for the mainstream ideology but lack of the speech for women themselves, which displays that they are only classsigns instead of gendersymbols. During the “17 years” film in the new China, it is rare for real modern women.

In Ingmar Bergman' s film Cries and Whispers, body and body touch come out in an unprecedented way, and body displays its significance inside the time. It is by this way that body becomes a place where human beings entangle each other, and a bridge where human beings and God communicate, sending out unrestrained cries and whispers. As a result, the mysterious relation between Maria and Karin is interpreted: Maria' s beautiful body in the ancient and red background shows its significance inside the time; the present bodies of Anna and Agnes are a mixture of past and future, accomplishing the mission of communication between human beings and God. It is in this sense that we may say that Ingmar Bergman' s film Cries and Whispers becomes a worldly version of the Holy Bible, interpreting body' s deiform cries and whispers.

Nor can we establish the philosophical foundation of aesthetics from the ontological dimension of the "human life in the world".
