As the prevention and control of crimes shifts to the spatial prevention and control currently, the theories of spatial prevention and control of crimes become popular in crime control. Especially those theories integrated with the technologies of geographical information system such as GIS, CPTED and SCP are increasingly commended. Yet it is essential to discern whether the theories are strategic or tactical, whether the methods of theories are strategic or tactical, and whether they are a step forward or regression of instrumentalism and technical priority. The relationship between the two determines the future orientation of the science of crime prevention and control. The theoretical support from the reviving classic criminology directly emphasizes the instrumental function in crime prevention, which meets the concept of the times that scientism is first and foremost in the development of modernization and that everything can be quantified and testified in “valid” empirical research. However, in terms of criminology, scientific means and empirical function cannot replace the construction of the overall strategic goals of crime prevention and control. Thus, it has double significance to distinguish between goals of strategies and tactics in order to avoid the fragmentation of the strategic goals of crime prevention and control.

With rapid development of the insurance market and the ageing population, long-term care insurance (LTCI) is the most prospective one among commercial insurances. However, the insurance density and penetration is yet to expand. This article, taking Shanghai city as an example and basing analysis on a random sample of 1 012 residents, explores the main factors influencing the demand for LTCI with logit/probit model. The result indicates that factors like income, saving and intergeneration game are not evident, but other factors like medical demand, price and pension willingness are evidently connected with demand. The paper also forecasts the future development of LTCI and offers suggestions based on the empirical analysis of the time series of long term health insurance.

Chinese film industry has been leading the global film market for the past three to five years by keeping an average annual increase of 30%. The box office records have been broken time and again, presenting a booming and thriving prospect. However, with the highspeed growth of China’s market economy, the unconstrained pursuit for materialistic wealth and the blind indulgence in “excessive entertainment” has led to a purely materialistic sensual hedonism instigated by the market, thus becoming a new fashion. The Internet enterprises led by the BAT (Baidu, Alibaba, and Tencent) online capital magnets take the chance and gradually invade and subvert the traditional film industry. By dint of a newlyrising Ecommerce sales mode of the “Internet+Film”, they have promoted a “new format”. The results are twofold: the constant takingoff of the box office records (domestically only) on the one hand, and the gradual waning of the mainstream values of our times on the other hand, which means that the classicality and subject spirit of the Eastern film aesthetics is instead eroded inch by inch to the extent of unstoppable slip. Now it is essential that we keep a somber mind to cope with the challenge from the Hollywood hegemony, break away from the self closure and arrogance of the Ecommerce sales format of “Internet+Film” and push forward the construction of the whole industrial chains of Chinese films based on modern civilization so as to meet the great rejuvenation of Chinese culture in the 21st century.

Oscar Wilde’s Idea of Aestheticism is an ever new topic. With the appearance of commoditization of literature, quite a few scholars have called the “purity” of Wilde’s aestheticism into question, contending that the main idea in Wilde’s aestheticism is the hedonism and utilitarianism. The author of the present paper maintains that on the surface, Wilde’s aestheticism is featured with hedonism and utilitarianism that finds expression mainly in the life style of foppery he adopted, and with rejection of efforts to express ideas and advocacy of the importance of finelycrafted forms in terms of art and literature. However, in depth, Wilde’s aestheticism can trace well back to Plato and therefore, we cannot summarize his aestheticism simply from a mundane and utilitarian perspective. However, in effect his aestheticism transcends the mundaneness and utilitarianism and marches towards eternal spiritual pursuit. The author of the present paper attempts to argue about that by discussing some relevant issues such as beauty, art and characteristics Wilde discussed in his essays, the beauty of form and beauty of idea Wilde advocated and the relationship between Wilde’s aestheticism and Plato’s aesthetic ideas.

Utopian literature in essence is a form of “social dreaming,” typifying the kinship between literature and politics. The utopian literature in the United States, despite its relatively short history, witnesses the first wave of growth in the late 19th century and revival in the second half of the 20th century. Together with the births of various subgenres, such as feminist utopias, ecotopias and etopias, many utopian communes or organizations were established, which exemplifies how utopian literature interacts with the society and politics. This paper starts with an investigation of the development of the utopian thoughtsand literature, and then explores the motives behind the flourishing ofutopias in the United States. It concludes that as a form of social dreaming, utopian literature embodies both deconstructive and reconstructive powerand typifies literature’s strong commitment to the society.

: The last part of the sentence “士志于道,而耻恶衣恶食者,未足与议也” from the Chapter LiRen in The Analects of Confucius has been probably misinterpreted as “not sufficient to discuss (the Way) with him” for almost 1,600 years since Huang Kan’s On the Analects of Confucius. Through an analysis of the PreQin Dynasty data, we find that “议” means “言得其宜”, which, as a noun, refers to the speeches and arguments judging right or wrong, gains or losses, and as a verb, refers to making such judgments and delivering one’s opinions, or in a nutshell, commenting, appreciating and criticizing. But the later generations have used it simply as “negotiate” and “confer”, losing its previous usages. What’s more, judging from the real context of The Analects of Confucius, the attitude Confucius held toward his disciples and the younger generation is that of instruction and guidance, instead of conferring. In view of this, the last part can be interpreted in the following two ways: not sufficient to discuss with him how to behave appropriately or such a person is not sufficient to gain commentaries, i.e., not noteworthy. In the second interpretation, “与” is used as a verb with falling tone and means “gain”, the usage of which was prevalent before the Qin Dynasty. Thus, no matter grammatically or contextually, the second interpretation is more convincing.

Performance is an important gauge of the channels of innovation. Based on panel data of provincial high-tech industry, this paper analyzes the contributions of four channels of scientific and technological input to innovation output, namely, enterprises’ self R&D input, the import of foreign technology, the introduction of domestic technologies and equipment upgrading and transformation by using Sys-GMM and Quantile Regression Models. The results show enterprises’ self R&D input yields highest contribution, the import of foreign technology ranks the second, while equipment upgrading and transformation ranks the last. The combination of self R&D input with foreign technology importing yields better results in those enterprises with high technologies. The introduction of domestic technologies makes significant contribution in those areas with the highest level of scientific and technological output while the overall contribution of R&D staff is comparatively low and turns out to be worse with the increase of scientific and technological output, indicating comparatively poor performance of R& D staff in those areas with high level of scientific and technological output.

The soaring development of Internet technologies has ushered us into the era of information fragmentation. Mobile phone becomes one of the major reading tools. The fast living pace has forced advertisers to make changes to cater to the fragmented reading habits of the recipients. With the wide transmission the network videos, micro-film advertising lends its service. Micro-film advertisements, concise and impressive, are featured with micro-duration, micro-production and micro-investment, integrated with complete stories, rich cinematic languages, dazzling celebrities and exquisite suspense. It is essential that micro-film advertisements break the bottleneck of over-simplification, coarseness, homogenization and vulgarization, and march towards the integration of advertising and marketing, artistic content, simplified producing devices and interactive games.

Marx’s labor-practical existentialism theoretically enhanced western traditional existentialism of metaphysical ontology, which simultaneously concerns about the ultimate end and reality of life. After an overlook of the existence modes of capitalism that has became the main one in modern times, Marx created his new theory based on the transformation from an ultimate concern to reality care. To address such kind of Marx’s theoretical creativity, his contributions to surplus value theory should be a good example, including his modifications of labor value theory, his finding the origins of surplus values, his definitions of the double social roles of capitalists, and his acknowledge of surplus value productions and therefore necessary distributions according to capital at the preliminary stage of socialism. It can be concluded that Marx believes that surplus value productions are unavoidable in human history. Thus, it is inevitable that every person would be somehow involved in surplus value productions.
