Abstract:

The film China Affair is cited here for indepth discourse analysis, because it sheds great enlightenment on the discussion of China's postmodern subjectivity with broad space for interpretation. The concept of“lemnaceae” is proposed here to emphasize its function in coordinating postmodern aesthetics and Chinese traditional aesthetics. Lemnaceae, like the concept of “rhizome”, emphasizes the uncertainty and the moving feature of postmodern society and blazes a new road in Chinese lyric discourse. While attaching importance to the process of movement, it retains the affirmation of stillness and respect for the origination. Under the contemplation of the space—time concept of modern physics and the ancient Chinese mythology system, it shows how the nonlinear and multidimensional features of time are involved in the emotional world of the postmodern subject.
