Abstract:  Although medicine and humanities belong to two completely different disciplines, they cannot be completely separated from each other. In recent years, medical humanities, which have risen from the Western academic circles, are an interdisciplinary field in which the boundaries of disciplines cross, permeate and blend with each other. As the name implies, medical humanities not only reflect on the humanities from the perspective of medicine, but also examine medical phenomena and human health from the perspective of the humanities. The medical humanities therefore encompass history, philosophy, bioethics as well as social and behavioral sciences with strong humanistic traditions. To us humanists, or rather, scholars of literature, we do not aim to discover new medical methods to ensure the survival of the human race, but to sum up the law of human evolution and development through the records of historical events in literature, so as to make the cold medical treatment with emotional warmth and humanistic concern. The marriage of medicine and humanities is also embodied in the career of some writers and their descriptions of characters. In the current fight against COVID-19, calling for a human concern may be an aid to healing patients.
