Abstract:
Edward Yang shows strong “author’s presence” in his films while addressing “sense and sensibility”, different from that in films like Springtime in a Small Town. His films demonstrate more of his personal conflicting “sense and sensibility”. As a typical type of intrusive writing, his works acquire the inclination to ruminate the author’s personal history, emotions, feelings and the like as well as an effect of “selfoxidation”. It is through this “wrapped slurry styled writing” that endows Yang’s films with distinctive brilliance. Key words: Sense; sensibility; selfoxidation; ruminate; wrapped slurry styled writing
