Abstract: After the 'Changes in Tang and Song Dynasties', the basic social relations changed greatly in Song dynasty. To cope with the new social environment, scholarofficials formed a concept of harmonizing the family; and at the same time, with the establishment of new religious system, village conventions appeared. These concept and conventions by literati were identified by the ruler and put into practice, becoming main basic units of the social organization of ancient China, which result in the rebuilding of social basic units after the breakdown of family status in Tang dynasty.
