Croce and the Modern Transformation of Western Aesthetics

——The Significance of Croce's Theory in the History of Western Aesthetics

Abstract: Croce is the most influential expect of aesthetics in the west after Kant and Hegel . As the turning point of western aesthetics’ modernization, Croce aesthetics observes intuition on the basis of subjectiveness. It not only sums up the traditional aesthetics critically, but also accomplishes developments for modern aesthetics expansively. And in this way, western aesthetics has been pushed to achieve its modernization from epistemology to axiology.
