On the Effect of Market Economy on the Historical Novels in Minguo Times

Abstract: It is twosided that the effect of market economy on the historical novels about the Minguo Times. On the one hand, restricted by the operation of the market, writers could only treat the reality and history with the view of the masses'. They saw and expressed the stableness of the Minguo Times, the accustomed daily life and the historical continuity, which shows the traditional culture and spirit permeating and affecting people's life and behavior. On the other hand, from the masses' view point, the narration about the Minguo Times in this period emphasizes such contents as pornography, violence and mystery.
