he Transmission of Cartoons during the Period

Abstract:  The “May Fourth” New Cultural Movement brought fine arts away from the ivory tower of traditional art into the torrents of modern art development. With the increasing advancement of modern media, cartoons singled out in the modern fine arts. It became an important vehicle of disclosing the imperialists' ambition of invasion and the feudal monarchy's corruption and decadence. During the AntiJapanese Invasion period,cartoons as a fine art have been widely employed in the war of national liberation and motherland protection. Cartoonists went out of the studios into the streets, boosting the morale of the masses to resist foreign invasion with cartoons, which immensely lifted the public's courage and confidence in defeating invaders and played an important role in crippling the enemy's morale. Cartoonists were obviously a unique and important defensive force in the massive and turbulent war of national defense.
