Abstract: Quantum theory and membrane theory indicate two kinds of typical descriptions of the world. The quantum description is quantity-based. This quantity-based and formalized description has come across the infinity problem hard to deal with besides incompatible with the theory of relativity which owing to, in the final analysis, the description in quantum mechanics is merely quantity-based, and the description in the theory of relativity is mainly shape-based. The membrane theory as a shape-based description has adopted the membrane limited size instead of particle, which makes our description to the world consistency. The shape-based description built upon the foundation of geometry will not only extend the function of describing the world, and provided the possibility for an unified description in different scale. It’s at least a kind of hopeful extension to describe the external world to develop the shape-based description.
