Abstract:  Artificial intelligence film has become one of the heated issues in academia. However, the concept of AI films is not a “selfevident field”. There are a couple of problems that have not been thoroughly discussed, such as the relationship between science fiction films and AI films, the relationship between AI films and related technologies and discourse, and the basic characteristics of AI films. In view of this, attempts are made to fill the gaps by elaborating the basic characteristics and logical positioning of AI films, and on this basis, the connotation and extension of this new type of film are described in order to lay a foundation for further research in this field.
