Abstract: Hegel' s interpretation of art and illustration of music are both based on metaphysics and dialectic. Hegel' s philosophy of music, whose core is the relationship between the "internal" meaning and the "external" form, integrates subject and object into inherent subjectivity to examine the nature of music as art. The ideal music is a balance of the "internal" meaning and the "external" form. By discussing the basic connotation of ideal music, the free essence of music and free principles of perceptual factors, the article probes into the relationship between subjectivity and music and argues that music is a main way to achieve subjective freedom.
