Abstract: Abstract:Christianity has long taken the Chinese Bible translation as its major job over the course of its preaching in China, which can be traced back to the Tang Dynasty that witnesses the preaching of the Nestorian Christianity. However, for the translation studies in China, the Chinese Bible translation has not been such an obvious favorite as the Chinese Buddhist Scriptures translation. This essay argues that the Chinese Bible translation has for so long a period merged itself into the translation studies in China. Its principles, as they have from time to time developed and got perfection, become part and parcel of the translation studies in China. The author believes that the principles of the Chinese Bible translation have developed not only to meet the need of preaching, but also to adapt themselves to the requirements of the Chinese culture. Therefore, the study of the Chinese Bible translation is of great significance both to the translation studies and to the sociological studies.
