Abstract: Oil and gas resources, as the core of world energy consumption, possess both economic and political value and profoundly influence the development of contemporary international political and economic relations. China and Russia are major world energy import and export country respectively, and their game in the area of energy cooperation not only exerts great influence on bilateral political and economic relations, but also on geopolitical and economic patterns in Northeast Asia, Middle Asia, Europe and other related areas. “Shale gas revolution” will promote the adjustment of world energy pattern and geopolitical and economic pattern on one hand, and affect to some degree SinoRussian energy cooperation process on the other hand. In order to achieve its own energy security, China must draft scientific international energy strategies while fully understanding current energy supply and demand relations and the development of international political and economic relations.
