News and Folkways: the Indigenization of Live News Programs——Taking Law on the Spot as the Study Case

Abstract: The TV program Law on the Spot, taking the form of the “upholding justice” in everyday disputes that is characteristic of folkloric culture, is entirely a narrative mode of nationality. However, if it is unable to avoid consciously the embarrassment of annoying complaints, the original intention to the program is lost. This essay attempts to, by putting Law on the Spot as a TV text in the historical context of the Chinese TV law programs, have a cultural analysis and discloses the marvelous combination of news and folkways as well as their gain and loss so as to make an effective approach to the indigenization of TV news.
